In 1963, a group of CB radio operators decided to assemble as a search and rescue unit to assist the sheriff's department. Times have changed a lot since 1963 and Silver Star has expanded it's search and rescue capabilities as required by the challenges brought upon us. In 1983, Silver Star built their own building to be used as, a meeting place, an emergency shelter and a headquarters from which to run searches. Silver Star is made up entirely of volunteers, we have no paid staff members and are on call 24 hours a day. Silver Star has served the public for over 35 years and we will continue to expand and adapt as the changing times dictate.
