Thanks to the F.A.A. and their donation of a 1973 Flextrac Nordwell Snow Cat, Silver Star is better equipped to handle unique rescue situations in extreme weather conditions. In addition to our snow cat team we have a cross county ski team and a snow shoe team and a snow mobile team. On most weekends we can be found at Marble Mountain Snow Park or Lone Butte Snow Park. Of course that depends on how much snow there is.
In 1991 Silver Star established a high angle rope/rock rescue team. Thanks to donations from the public, we purchased the necessary equipment to provide high and low angle rescues services. Over the years we have done a lot of intensive training amongst ourselves and with other search and rescue teams. Since 1991 we have been called out on a number of occasions for rescues, recoveries, evidence searches and even a handful of animal rescues. Below is a list of the training that takes place during the year for the rock team.

In May of 1999 we had our first mountain bike training session. This is a new team for us and we still have a lot to learn. Silver Star believes that mountain bikes can be a great asset on certain types of searches. We feel mountain bikes are best for subject containment and hasty searches on established trails or roads.
Silver Star Search and Rescue is looking for new people to add to our specialty teams and as field personnel(ground pounders). If the idea of being called out at 3:00am to go looking for a lost person appeals to you, then attend one of our general business meetings and check us out.
